Friedrich Gulda's constant endeavor to expand his horizons may be regarded as the program of his musical activities. In this first part of a four-part edition, Friedrich Gulda lets his listeners participate in a wide-ranging musical cosmos in which stars of the most diverse provenance shine. These are five concerts that Gulda gave in Stuttgart between 1966 and 1969 and in 1979, in which many facets of his artistic existence can be found. One senses that Gulda elicits a specific aura from each composer through his unsurpassable touch and unique rhythmic feeling.
Reviews
"... his Beethoven glows with positive vital energy and rousing drive, while in Mozart he tracks down the so crucial aspect of the momentary, the operatic proximity, i.e. the discontinuous labyrinth of the soul even in the piano sonatas." (stereoplay, October 2018)
