商品描述: Hitler in der Karikatur der Welt [Hitler in the Caricature of the World] By Ernst Hanfstaengle. Published by Verlag Braune Bucher Berlin Carl Rentsch, Berlin, 1933. 1st Edition. The author of this book, published in 1933, is probably the only person to have worked directly for both Adolf Hitler and Franklin D. Roosevelt, and who also funded Mein Kampf thus helping to create the monster of Nazism before later working to destroy it. One of the strangest projects he became associated with was this book (and the follow-up volume ?TAT GEGEN TINT? (Action versus Printers Ink). Hanfstaengle had become obsessed with the way the world?s press had characterized Hitler and his policies in scathing political cartoons. With his little moustache and the lock of hair falling across his forehead, Hitler was a gift to cartoonists. Hanfstaengle decided to counter this by publishing a selection of the most critical of these cartoons - and then attempt to refute each one with a description of the ?truth?. The book sold well although it is difficult to determine how effective it was in helping the Nazi cause. Looking at it decades later, the cartoons and caricatures themselves leave a far stronger impression than the author?s rather lame refutations.
