1888, small 4to, 225 x 175 mm, 9 x 7 inches, tan cloth, illustrated and decorated red and black, gilt lettered spine, pages: (4), 188 + 16. Attractive coloured frontispiece and 23 interesting colour plates. Numerous black and white engravings by Flaxman, H. Railton, J. Pennell, Joshua Reynolds, Durer and Harrison Weir, many full page. There is a serial by Mrs Marshall: 'Chris and Tina' and articles on a great variety of subjects, stories and songs. Spine darkened slightly, covers lightly soiled, front endpaper slightly spotted and slightly creased, occasional foxing and fingermarks, 1 gathering secured by 1 thread only, so that lower fore-edges of 12 pages protrude and are slightly worn and a bit dusty, some inner joints cracked, large closed tear to text page 163/4, no loss of legibility. Still a near very good copy of a well produced uncommon annual. It seems that only 1888 and 1889 were published. The colour plates include 4 of Japanese interest (2 from drawings by Hokusai), 2 of Egyptian interest, 2 of Chinese interest, 2 of Cortez and 2 of Christopher Columbus, 2 of butterflies, A Shoemaker's Shop in Brazil and Hunting the Wild Goat in Bourbon.
