\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"【精彩书摘】：三字经ThreeCharacterClassicMakingcharactersaseasyas1-2-3“ThreeCharacterClassic”wasoneofthemostpopulartextsforelementaryeducationinChinaformorethan700yearsuntilthemiddleoflastcentury.Almostallchildrenatschoolusedtoberequiredtorecitethetextof1,248Chinesecharactersinthree-characterversesforeasymemorization.ManyhistorianshaveattributedthistexttoWangYinglin(1223-1296),afamousscholaroftheSouthernSongDynasty(1127-1279).ButtheysaythattheversionweseetodaywasrevisedbylaterscholarsbecauseitcontainscontentabouthistoryaftertheSouthernSongDynasty.AsawriterandscholarofChineseclassicsandhistory,Wangobtainedthetitleof“PresentedScholar,”agraduateoftheImperialPalaceexamination,attheageof18.Threeyearslater,hewasappointedasanofficialoftoday’sQuzhouCityinhishomeprovinceofZhejiangineasternChina.ThehighestofficeWangeverheldwastheDirectoroftheBoardofRitesintheImperialCourt.ItwassaidthatWangauthored“ThreeCharacterClassic”inordertospreadConfucianclassicsandknowledgeofChinesehistoryamongchildren.Therefore,hewrotethetextbothshortandsimpleandarrangeditallintothree-characterverses,verysuitableforreadingandreciting.Asaresult,eventoday,morethan60yearsafteritstoppedbeingusedasatextforprimaryschools,manypeopleinChinacanstillrecitesomeofitsmostreadableverses.“ThreeCharacterClassic”isdividedintosixparts,eachfocusingonaspecifictopic.ItbeginswithfourversesaboutthecorebeliefofConfucianism:“Peopleatbirth,Allinnatelykind.Naturesarealike,Buthabitsdifferent.”Then,itgoesontopreachtraditionalChinesevalues,suchastofollowfilialpiety,toobservetheproprieties,torespectteachersandtobediligentandtostudyhard.ItevenmentionsanancientepisodeconcerningKongRong(153-208AD),aHanDynastywriteranddescendantofConfucius.Asaboyof10,Kongwasaskedtodividetwopearsbetweenhisyoungerbrotherandhimself.Konggavethebiggeronetohisbrotherwhilekeepingasmalleroneforhimself.ThestoryhasbeentoldforcenturiesinChinatoencourageyoungstudentstotakeafterKong’shumblenessandgenerosity.Inadditiontoteachingchildrenthebasicsofmath,Chineselanguage,musicandscience,thetextalsoliststitlesofimportantChineseclassicsinConfucianismandworksofotherancientphilosophers.ThetexttellsstudentsthatbeforeonebeginstostudyChinesehistory,heorshemustfirstbecomeversedinthoseclassicmasterworks.Afterexpoundingallkindsofknowledgeandprinciples,theclassictexttellsstudentsinconclusionthatpeoplestudyingandworkinghardwillbeeventuallyrewarded,whilethosewhowastetheirtimeonplaywillregretofitoneday.Becauseofitsrichcontent,beautifulversesandsimplestyle,itwastranslatedintoMongolianandManchulanguagesduringtheYuanandQingdynasties.IntheearlyyearsofMeijiReign(1868-1912),itwaswidelyusedasatextinprivateschoolsinJapan.Later,itwasalsotranslatedintoEnglish,FrenchandItalian.Now,ithasbeenlistedbyUNESCOasoneofitsrecommendedchildren’sreadingsworldwide.Later,peoplealsotriedtoimitatethewritingstyleof“ThreeCharacterClassic”tospreadknowledgeofspecificsubjectsandreligions.So,formanyhundredsofyears,agoodnumberofbookshavebeenpublishedinChinainthe“three-character”style.Titlesinclude:“ThreeCharacterClassicforFemales,”“ThreeCharacterClassicofGeology,”“ThreeCharacterClassicofMedicine,”“ThreeCharacterClassicofMilitary,”“ThreeCharacterClassicofBuddhism”and“ThreeCharacterClassicofTaoism.”\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
