回到纽约后，他在芝麻街（一个幼儿教育节目）做作家和动画师，在1993年1月-2002年他的任期间，获得了6个艾美奖。同时，他还在纽约执演了一个脱口秀节目，为BBC radio录制随笔，为卡通频道做促销广告，在尼克国际儿童频道为一个show开幕（可以说，他赋予了这个节目生命）。

Willems有三本书获得了凯迪克大奖：Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! (2004), Knuffle  Bunny: A Cautionary Tale (2005), 和 Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity (2008)
