商品描述: Library and information science (LIS) is a merging of library science and information science. Librarians not only manage collections, they evaluate, analyze, organize, package, and present information and train people in its use. The LIS specialization introduces research, theories, and approaches, as well as the practices of library and information science. Library and Information Science Research: Current Trends develop knowledge of information representation and organization, information architecture, content and collections, information needs and uses, and information technology. First chapter analyses the inclusion indigenous knowledge and multicultural issues in library and information science/studies (LIS) curricula. Second chapter is conceived to assess the quantitative aspect of research output scenario of BRIC nations in the discipline of Library and Information Science. Third chapter provides a framework for self-reflection in library and information science. The general goal of fourth chapter is to explore how nonparametric statistical techniques could diminish the drawback and be incorporated into library and information science Delphi studies. Fifth chapter, based on relevant literature review and the authors’ experience as LIS practitioners and educators, aims at discussing this subject and highlights important issues to be addressed. Sixth chapter focuses on academic librarian competency and seventh chapter reveals research on national trends in international library and information science. Eighth chapter highlights on the basic research methods for librarians. In ninth chapter, the financial environment within library and information services is reviewed and a structure for financial management is presented based on funding source and level of commercial activity. Tenth chapter overviews on the principle of library and information science. Eleventh chapter presents a case analysis on cataloging and classification skills of library and information science practitioners in their workplaces. Review of Related Literature has been presented in last chapter.
