When Piggie sees Gerald with a big bandage on his nose, she asks, How did you break your trunk? It's a long story. First Elephant tried to lift Hippo with his trunk. Is that how you broke your trunk? Piggie asks. No, there's more. Then Rhino came by, and Gerald lifted him with his trunk too. But even that isn't what broke Gerald's trunk. Gerald's story grows longer and more ridiculous as the book goes on and is topped off by a silly twist at the end. This may well be the funniest Elephant and Piggie yet!
