¡¡¡¡This manual is designed to introduce and explore the basics of laboratory identification of all common-seen parasites£¬ and stresses the importance to understand in depth the various parasitic diseases£¬ and will guide the medical graduate students as a teaching aid. This practical manual collects and explains the most basic and some advanced techniques used in medical parasitology for diagnosis of parasitic diseases clinically. This course is targeted for sophomore and junior students and provides practical insight and experiences in learning. Preliminary basic knowledge in general biology£¬ anatomy£¬ histology and embryology£¬ physiology£¬ pathophysiology£¬ and immunology are required as a prerequisite. In addition£¬ medical parasitology lectures are required either as a prerequisite or co-requisite
¡¡¡¡It is often helpful to bring this manual along with the medical parasitology text book with you when you attend the practice course in the laboratory. As each student need to use microscope independently and extensively during the course£¬ all students need to be familiar with the use and care of the microscopes prior to start using it for practical lessons. Try not to pulverize slides and cover-slips by jamming the high objective lens down onto the slide
¡¡¡¡During some practice lessons£¬ demonstrations may be set up to supplement the self-observations. These demonstrations generally consist of specimens either too large£¬ too valuable£¬ or too rare to be included in the slide boxes. You may have to self-study these gross specimens and pathological specimens on your own£¬ so it is important that you examine them carefully during the practice period
¡¡¡¡In the laboratory£¬ students will not only be responsible for identification of specimens£¬ but also need to master all important aspects of parasitic infections included in the laboratory manual£¬ such as the life-cycles£¬ sites of infection£¬ intermediate hosts£¬ basic morphology£¬ and associated pathology.
