阎纯德，河南濮阳人，1963年毕业于北京大学中文系，后进修于北京外国语学院和北京语言学院。历任北京师范大学中文系教师，北京语言文化大学外国语言文学系和语言文学系主任，《中国文化研究》杂志主编，汉学研究所所长，北京语言文化大学杂志社社长，教授。巴黎龙呤诗社副社长，中华文学史料学学会、中外关系史学会常务理事，炎黄文化研究会、中国实学研究会、当代文学研究会理事。曾赴法国巴黎第三大学、马赛第一大学、巴黎东方语言文化学院、波尔多第三大学、意大利波伦亚大学、都灵大学讲授中国文学和语言。1982年加入中国作家协会。
