Clare Vanderpool (born 1965) is an American children's author. Her book Moon Over Manifest won the 2011 Newbery Medal.Her grandparents grew up in Frontenac, Kansas.She graduated from Newman University in 1987, with BS in Elementary Education, and a BA in English. She is married; they live in College Hill, near Wichita, Kansas, with their four children.
