翻译过莎士比亚、德莱顿、雨果、司汤达、巴尔扎克等英法文学家的经典作品多部。他的中译英作品《楚辞》被美国学者誉为“英美文学领域的一座高峰”。《西厢记》被英国智慧女神出版社评价为“可以和莎士比亚的《罗密欧与朱丽叶》媲美”。
2010年获得中国翻译协会表彰个人的荣誉奖项“中国翻译文化终身成就奖”。2014年获得国际翻译界奖项之一——国际翻译家联盟(国际译联)2014“北极光”杰出文学翻译奖。2020年获全球华人国学大典海外影响力奖。 杜甫(712年2月12日—770年)，字子美，中国唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，被誉为“诗圣”。
