作者简介 Xiaohong Wen iS a Professor ofApplied Lin,guistics and Director of the Chinese StudiesProgram at the University ofHouston.She has research interests in learner factors.second language acquisition.and research,based instruction.Her publications include books.such as Studies of Chinese Language Acquisition by English Speakers and Learning and Teaching Chinese as a Second Language(Peking University Press),and more than thirty articles in refereed ioumals.Her research instrument has been adapted and used in other language studies such as ESL,Spanish。and Arabic.She iS a Principal Investigator for grants from both intemal and federal sources. Dt Wen has built the Chinese Program from a single language class into an interdisciplinary studies prograln that 0ffers a major ra B.A.degree jn Chinese Studies).a minor,a study abroad program,annual scholarships,and the STARTALK Texas Teacher Program.She iS a Guest Professor at four universities in China.She has received teaching awards such as the Sydney B.Karofskv Teaching Prize and the Lence Award for Teaching Exeellence She has served on editorial boards and national boards ofdirectors for academic associations.She iS a guest speaker in numerous research and training programs in the US and China.
