ShanDeqi,bornin1937inAnhuiProvince,graduatedfromtheCivilEngineeringandArchi-tectureDepartmentofTsinghuaUniversityin1960andmajoredinarchitecture.Hewasfor-merlyDirectorof"theTeachingandResearchSectionforArchitecturalDesign"oftheArchitec-tureDepartmentofTsinghuaUniversity,andtheVice-PresidentoftheSchoolofArchitecture,TsinghuaUniversity.Atpresent,heisthePro-fessorattheSchoolofArchitectureofTsinghuaUniversityaswellastutorofdoctoralgraduatestudents,MemberoftheAcademicCommittee,andViceDirectoroftheAcademicDegreeCom-mittee.ShanDeqihaspublishedmonographsincludingIllustrationsofChineseTraditionalVernacularDwelling,etc.
