　　ButperhapsthechiefreasonforphilosophyofreligionsattractionisthefactthatconsiderationshavingtodowiththeexistenceandnatureofaSupremeBeingraisesissuesofultimateconcern.Noissuesurpassesitintermsofimportance，ramificationandimplication.Allelseoneendeavorstoaffirminphilosophypivots，andrightlyso，onclaimsmaderegardingwhethersuchabeingexists，andwhatsortofbeliefsproperlyfollowfromaffirmationordenialofGodsexistence.
　　TwobasicorientationsprevailintheliteratureintheWest，theanalyticwayofthinking，orassomeprefertocallit，Anglo-Americanphilosophy，andContinentalphilosophy.Thelatterfindssomerepresentationinthiscollection，butsomereadersnodoubtmaythinkitnotenough.Theanalyticisgivengreaterattentionforanumberofreasons，onlyafewofwhichareonlybrieflystatedhere.ScantifanyattentionisgiventoargumentsfortheexistenceofGodbyContinentalauthors.OthertopicstypicallyincludedinWesternphilosophyofreligiontextsarealsosparselycoveredifatall，suchasmiracles，andotherevidentialsortsoftopics，liketheproblemofevil.
