【作者简介】

　　赫伯特·胡佛（Herbert Hoover），美国第31任总统。胡佛生于爱荷华州，毕业于斯坦福大学，早年曾是一名采矿工程师。曾先后担任美国救济委员会主席、美国粮食总署署长，并于1929年出任美国总统。
　　一生著作16本，其中《回忆录》三部：《冒险年代》《当选总统》《大萧条》。《威尔逊总统的考验》，也曾是当时的畅销书。
