This Russian artist was born in Leningrad in 1952, at the age of nine he began to paint, and at the age of twelve he enrolled in the academy of fine Arts. He graduated as a painter and decorator in 1973 and became a theatre decorator. He knows like many of his colleagues the destruction of his works, art being then very severely framed and contemporary art censored. He works in watercolor, dry pastel and Indian ink, all these techniques rub side by side in his drawings, where are represented uncoutable characters of Russian legends. The beautiful Prince Ivan, princess Yaroslavna, the dragon Gorynnytah and the witch Babayaga (who is a good witch). Working with all the classical techniques, Vladimir chernychev could not lock himself in a frame. His neck pencil drawings are unique to them and his works are immediately identifiable. Its oil palette is lively, rich in colors. In his pastels he reproduces the same depth of colors. Each composition contains secrets, mysteries to discover, interpret, meditate. He takes us into a fairytale world, where the messages are mixed with an analysis of our world.
