本书是一本关于美国教育本质和西方学术特的研究论著，分上、下两部。上部12章为中文，内容涉及美国基础教育和大学的办学理念、特与改革、私立学校和常春藤高校的办学特、创新人才培养机制、学术自由和学术诚信、外语的近期新动态、大学教育理念和课程大纲的重要，以及人际传播学理论与研究评述。下部12章为英文，讨论中国森林环保的传播模式与转变质、比照中风格与中西家教差异等。
作者简介：
田德新，美国鲍林格林州立大学媒体与传播学博士（2008）、西安外国语大学英语语言文学硕士（1989）和英语语言学士（1983）。曾任驻纽约领事馆教育领事（1999―2003），2002年由二等秘书晋升为一等秘书，并被评为该年度很好外交官。曾在美国两所大学任教（1999―2014）。现为扬州大学特聘教授，执教外国语学院。主要研究方向为跨交际学，与跨交际有关的英语、教育管理、靠前，以及知识产权保护的阐释。公开发表36篇，其中在中国管理研究中国传播期刊和靠前传播期刊ci来源靠前期刊发表5篇，在世界汉语中国高等教育和外语cci来源靠前期刊发表5篇。同时，在靠前和美国主编或参编英语阅读、英语写作和跨交际学高校教材10余部。
