oftware， a an important carrier of information technology， ha perated all apect of political， economic， military， cultural， and o live. however，with the increaing cale of oftware， oftware development， integration， and continuou evolution have bee increaingly plex. oftware defect caued by plety frequently reult in variou accident and even eriou diater.conequently， reearch into trutworthy oftware ha bee an urgent need for national economic development.
in 2007， the national natural cience foundation of china （nfc） began implementing the major reearch n "the fundamental reearch for trutworthy oftware" (hereinafter referred to a the n） in repone to the requirement of fundamental reearch on trutworthy oftware. it i one of the major reearch n launched during the 11th fiveyear n (20062010）， led by the department of information cience and organized and implemented in collaboration with the department of mathematical and phyical cience and the department of management cience. the n ha lated 10 year and funded 107 project totaling 190 million yuan， inclu 73 fotering project， 24 key project， and 5 integrated project.
the n adopted a management framework that bined the management ytem upported by the national natural cience fund with the ytem of academic guidance of expert， and etablihed a n management working group (reponible for the overall review， coordination， and organizational evaluation of major reearch n implementation）; it alo etablihed a reearch n management office (affiliated with eat china normal univerity， reponible for the timely publication of the project tatu， reearch progre， and related matter of the reearch n to the public， to facilitate the pecific implementation and management of the n）.
the major n focued on four categorie of key cientific iue： meaurement and modeling of oftware trutworthine， contruction and verification of trutworthy oftware， evolution and control of trutworthy oftware， and truted environment contruction and evaluation. the n wa aimed to etablih a reearch framework for fundamental reearch on trutworthy oftware by focuing on the trutworthine of embedded oftware and work application oftware， a well a the trutworthine of oftware in key application field in china. the reearch fin revealed the fundamental law governing the meaurement and evolution of oftware trutworthine and environment trutworthine; etablihed method and key technical ytem for the contruction， verification， evolution， and control of trutworthy oftware and it environment; and etablihed a trutworthy oftware development tool and operational upport tform.
