Americans believe that they must be self-supported to own their freedom. Itis impossible to do what they want to do freely if they depend on parents，government or any organization excessively. American youths usually move out oftheir families when they are 18 years old or graduate from a university. PerhapsChinese people think the relationships between children and parents are apatheticin America. VirtuaUy the parents are willing to force their children out of familiesto make them self-supported. They don't need to live together with one or twogenerations to keep their emotions. The old are self-supported too. They preferliving without their children and won't accept others' help easily. In Americanfamilies， mothers seldom ask children not to do this or that. At most， motherswill tell children to go into their own rooms if children are too naughty. Therooms are theirs， and they can fix up the funuture and name their toys by themselves， and these are all in order to cultivate them to be self-supported.
Once a person becomes self-supported， he can just take the responsibility which he should. When several people go to have a mealin a restaurant， they will pay for their own part of the meal if nobody announces that he will pay for the meal beforehand. In those three American pictures， Forrest Gump and the other two persons all dare to take their own responsibility and pursue what they want to. They don't depend on others and can lead a wonderful life. Forrest had food opportunities to go to a university， join the army and develop his own career. He did not break lus promise and bought a shrimp boat to complete Bubble's dream. Sam wanted to be a father and was willing to take this heavy responsibility. Carol liked to learn some working skills and then entered a college. She actively put in a claim that she wanted to live alone when her mother did not think Carol could be independent without anybody's help. At last， Carol did it. Aments are not thesame as common people. They react and speak much slower than common people. All the aments are the same when they were bom to this world. But how could they be self-supported and take their own responsibility？-Because of American individualistic culture and cultural psychology. In the society filled with individualistic culture， children are educated to be self-supported and everybodyaround them does so. Therefore， American children are able to be self-supported， including aments.
