本教材是基于多模态
教学理论和课程思政教改要求打造的中国传统文化教育特色教材。教材共分为三大部分十一个单元。
第一部分为第一单元，整体世界遗产知识。第二大部分为本书的主体部分，介绍了关于中国的56个世界遗产（物质遗产），共七个单元双遗遗产（第二单元）、文化景观遗产（第三单元）、自然遗产（第四、第五单元）、文化遗产（第六、第七、第八单元）。第三部分选取了中国17个典型的世界性非物质文化遗产项目，分为古代科技（第九单元）、
民俗文艺（第十单元）和乐舞戏曲（第十一单元），这一部分突出了中国传统文化文化教育中的“工匠精神”。
本书为双语教材，包含56个项目（截至2021年）。每个单元专门列出单元思政目标，体现了课程思政改革的最新成就。
