Residential Lighting has been serving the lighting showroom market for more than 23 years — the only consistent monthly print publication in the industry and the only audited magazine for residential lighting, with a circulation of more than 10,000. It was founded in December 1992 by Vance Publishing Corp. and acquired in April 2009 by Scranton Gillette Communications.
Residential Lighting and its staff have been honored with numerous awards. In 2016, our magazine took home an Azbee Silver Regional Award for Social Media Presence. In 2015, we won an Azbee Gold Regional Award for exceptional Social Media Presence; received an Honorable Mention in the min Editorial & Design Awards’ Magazine Redesign and Best Use of Social Media categories; and was a finalist in both the Jesse H. Neal Awards, which are considered the Pulitzer Prize of trade journalism, and the FOLIO: Eddie Awards in the B-to-B Overall Use of Social Media category.
In 2014, our magazine received a Gold TABBIE Award for Best Use of Social Media and a Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Single Issue of a Magazine, which honored LED lighting coverage that Residential Lighting staff produced for the April 2013 issue of sister publication Building Design + Construction magazine. In addition, Editor-in-Chief Nicole Bowling was one of FOLIO magazine's "20 In Their 20s," recognizing rising stars in media.
Other recent accolades include a Silver TABBIE Award in 2013 for Best Use of Social Media and an Honorable Mention TABBIE for Best Front Cover, Photograph for our December 2012 issue. A custom LED supplement for Satco Products earned Bronze Award for Magazine Insert in the 2012 Gold Ink competition, and our April 2011 issue also won a min Editorial & Design Award for Best Single Issue of a Magazine. This national competition honors both trade and consumer publications.
More importantly, Residential Lighting is greatly appreciated in its own market — survey data proves that it continues to be the most read, most useful and most preferred publication in its marketplace.
