  《英美文化与国家概况（修订版）（英文版）》基本上涵盖了英美两个国家文化与国家概况的全部核心内容。为了便于对其文化现象的理解，又追溯了相关的历史背景及演变过程。上半卷是英国部分，不但讲述了国家地理、民族构成和民族特点，政府体制及其权力运行模式，教育理念和教育制度，法律制度及案例法特点，经济领域的生产与分配等各个领域的现今情况，还介绍了起源及历史演变。作者用很大篇幅讲述了英国经历的文艺复兴、启蒙运动、宗教改革和工业革命。这些内容的另一个作用，是为后来的美国作铺垫。
  美国部分的结构与体例保持了与英国部分的统一，但内容侧重点不一样。这是因为，美国没有经历过封建时期，独立战争胜利、殖民地时期结束后，直接组建成了联邦共和国，三权分立，政教分离，地方自治，宪法至上。这在当时并无先例。美国主流文化的核心内容，起始于殖民地时期，虽然也包含了英国及欧洲文化的很多内涵，但美国的独特历史造就了独特的美国文化。这就是美国文化与英国及欧洲文化的区别所在。相关内容该书处理得很好，选材恰当，行文流畅，把知识性、趣味性和可读性很好地结合在了一起。
