The course is designed to provide knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of ship' smachinery to watchkeeping engineers, as well as corrective actions to be taken in problem solving in the recognition of signs and symptoms of a deteriorating function of ship' s machinery. The primary principle behind this book is to help marine engineers or their candidates to befamiliar with the engine room equipment and systems in simulator. It will also assist trainees toenhance their existing capabilities so that the final outcome adds value to the skills of the mariner for their application on board a ship in a real working environment. When using this book,we should pay attention that different ways and contents should be passed for the different levelof competency according to STCW Convention. The chief editor of this book is Zeng Hong, the deputy editor-in-chief is He Zhibin, andthe auditor is Zhang Jundong. The following teachers also contribute to this book' s edit, CaoHui, Gan Huibing, Feng Jinhong, Jiang Ruizheng, Lu Daoyi, Li Yanbiao, Jia Baozhu.
