    电视口译是具有普遍受众的一种口译形式，但已有文献并没有对电视口译进行系统深入的探讨，其显著的多模态特征也未被学界考察。本书以克瑞思和范勒文(Kress & van Leeuwen)的多模态社会符号学传播理论为指导，对从中国电视频道上搜集的真实直播口译语料进行多模态话语分析，探讨了译员使用并产出的模态与其他在场的模态之间的互动关系，以及各种模态相互作用共同参与意义构建的过程。
