Chapter 2 deals with the discussion of two fundamental concepts,culture and cultural patterns. The basic components of cultural patterns:beliefs, values, norms and social practices are explained. And a generaloverview of cultural orientations is made. Finally the relationship between cultural patterns and intercultural competence is explained. Chapter 3 touches upon cultural context. It focuses on the discussion ofthree dimensions of cultural variability that are useful for understandingcultural differences. The topics such as high- and low-context cultures,individualism-collectivism, and value orientation are explored.
