众所周知，许多人虽学了多年英语，能应付种种考试，但在真实的跨文化交际场合却常感困难，所学英语难以致用。这本《跨文化交际百科》正是为帮助交际者走出困境而研究与编制的，将带给使用者耳目一新的体验，也将有助于在校大学生“提高跨文化交际能力”以及“对中国文化的理解和阐释能力”（教育部2020年颁发的《大学英语教学指南》提出的要求）。 该《百科》提供了近3000个可供交际中直接运用的话题（每个话题为一个条目），对于跨文化交际中的棘手问题多方指导，对于中国人易犯的语用错误给出了恰当的英文表达。另外，中国文化部分为全中英文对照，便于交际的实现。该百科与时代保持同步，集工具性和人文性于一体，在国内尚属首创。其研编绵延20年，如匠人打磨，旨在切实“益人”。 该《百科》有利于东西方文明交流与互鉴，将惠及广大使用者，尤其适合具有中学、大学及以上英语水平的人士，也适合从事英语教育、靠前交往行业的相关人士，以及对英语国家文化和中国文化感兴趣的中外人士。对于来华的汉语学习者也将有所裨益。
