Many construction industry commentators have recommended earlier contractor appointments, and this has also been linked to successful project partnering. The project delivery processes have subsequently emerged as a central plank of UK public sector construction procurement policy. New procurement models based on these processes have been analysed and tested in practice under a Cabinet Office-led initiative, with remarkable results. At the same time, the UK Governments strong support of Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been very closely linked to early contractor involvement. With detailed Trial Project Case Studies offering new evidence and lessons learned, and with a Government mandate for all public sector projects to adopt BIM by 2016, an update of this book by the end of 2015 will be timely and helpful.
