Lack of a book on Microelectronics: Physics and Processing for M.S. students of Physics that can be used as textbook is strongly felt by students and by course conductors. This is a serious obstacle to teaching and learning process. This book will serve two purposes. Firstly, it will serve as main textbook of Microelectronics: Physics and Processing for M.S. students of Physics. Secondly, teachers of this course can use the book as lecture notes without any modification. As such the book will be a great aid in teaching and learning; the book should reach globally. The entire content of the book can be covered in two semesters. Without a book like this one, to get necessary material for the course, one needs to go through a range of books and it is difficult to gather materials in the form of coherent lecture notes. Moreover, most books emphasize on material or microelectronic processing rather than on Physics. This book contains the course coherently and clearly in exactly the way M.S. students of Physics need so that they need not peruse large volumes of text to get what they need. While writing this book, equal emphasis has been given to Physics and material or microelectronic processing, as should be the case for a textbook for students of Physics major. The book is on pure Physics. It is intended for MS students of Physics as main textbook lack of which is strongly felt. This is possibly the 1st textbook of the course that can be used as lecture notes essentially without any modification and entire content of it can be covered in two semesters. Hence the book will be a great aid in teaching and learning. The book contains the course coherently with thorough discussion and extensive use of diagrams so that an MS student or any scientist or academic of Physics who knows nothing about this course can go through this book and get a very clear knowledge and understanding of the course. No prior knowledge of the course is required. The bibliography contains a list of academic monographs which contain applications of Quantum Mechanics in pure nanostructure Physics. The book is based on 10th version of lecture notes of Sujaul Chowdhury for a course he has been conducting for nearly a decade; he has classtested the entire content of the book many times.Because of its distinctive features, this book will surpass any other book of this course in usefulness. The entire content of the book should be covered as two parallel courses; understanding of part I will help achieve complete understanding of part II.
