The proposed book will summarize the current evidence on the effects of anti-platelet factors isolated mainly from food and natural sources, their structure function relationship, bioavailability, mechanisms of actions, and also human trials data. The book will target professionals, academics, researchers, and students associated in the area of nutrition, CVD, obesity and diabetes. The book will include platelet function and roles in development of CVD, functional foods and bioactive compounds in CVD risk factors with emphasis mainly on platelets, their mechanisms of actions, data from epidemiological studies, structure-function relationship clinical trial data, ex vivo and in vitro data.  Priority will be given to human clinical studies, and to some extent animal data will be reviewed and in vitro studies will be included to postulate their mechanism on cellular function of these bioactive compounds. The book will focus primarily on human studies and emphasize functional and physiological implications of the nutritional impact on platelet function and CVD that could be an important approach to highlight the concept of preventive CVD nutrition. This book will be distinct from the existing books (which are anyway very few or none) that would connect nutrition with platelet function and its impact on CVD. The book will reveal the impact of bioactive compounds and their effect on platelets and its associated processes that will have an impact on CVD. Overall, this book will be an asset for clinicians, researchers, academicians, and students those are associated in this area.
