The Penguin English Library (or PEL) is described by Penguin as “collectable general readers’ editions of the best fiction in English, from the eighteenth century to the end of the Second World War.” The series was first created in 1963 and reworked into their current state in 2012. 作者简介

Richard Marsh(1857-1915)是英国作家Richard Bernard Heldman的笔名。他z著名的作品是超自然惊悚片《甲壳虫》，与布拉姆·斯托克(Bram Stoker)的《德古拉》(Dracula)同一年出版，一开始甚至更受欢迎。海尔德曼曾就读于伊顿公学和牛津大学。多产的马什有几部小说是在他死后出版的。

Richard Marsh (1857-1915) was the pseudonym of the British author born Richard Bernard Heldman. He is best known for his supernatural thriller The Beetle: A Mystery, published in the same year as Bram Stoker's Dracula and initially even more popular. Heldman was educated at Eton and Oxford University. Several of the prolific Marsh's novels were published posthumously.
