张剑，北京外国语大学英语学院院长、二级教授、博士生导师、国务院特殊津贴获得者、英语文学研究分会副会长、英语诗歌研究专委会副会长、《英语文学研究》主编，主要研究领域为英美诗歌和中外文学关系。曾主持国家社科基金、苏格兰艺术委员会研究基金等重要科研项目。主讲精品课程“英语文学概论”，全国一流课程“英语诗歌赏析”，获得全国教学成果二等奖。出版著作8部，重要期刊和《光明日报》等报刊发表论文100余篇。

内容摘要
“英语诗歌鉴赏”是通识型课程，但也具有语言文学专业的性质。新时代需要的人才不仅要语言能力出众，而且要文化知识丰富，具有文学素养、艺术品位和鉴赏力，本教材将为这方面人才的培养做出贡献。
本教材既提升外语语言能力，又建构合理的知识体系。通过阅读诗歌原文，增加学生的英语阅读和理解能力，达到大学英语六级（词汇量5500）水平，同时也增加学生的知识宽度，实现通识教育的目的。
本教材相信文学不是象牙塔，它反映社会和历史。它选择的诗歌作品中，爱情、友谊等常规话题不多，更多的是与社会和历史问题有关的作品。阅读它们可以增加问题意识，以及对社会和历史问题的兴趣和敏感度。
主编推荐
目前市面上的英语诗歌赏析类教材，在内容编排上一般都是按时间顺序排列，从中世纪到20世纪，内容涉及作家作品。但是本教程编排方式与之不同，它以“专题”为线索设计教学的内容，以问题为导向安排课程的章节。这样做的好处在于，可以通过阅读英美诗歌，引导学生分析其中的问题，增加他们对这些问题的认识和理解。同时，每个专题可以从古到今选择诗歌作品，它不仅能够对这个问题进行定义，还可以将这个问题的历史发展、来龙去脉呈现出来。
