　　本书为陈友松先生的英文博士论文，根据当时中国教育的现实，注重比较教育和教育经济的研究，1935年由商务印书馆出版，受到学术界的高度赞赏，被时任北京大学校长马寅初誉为“在教育学与经济学之边缘领域的开拓性研究工作。”此书为我国教育财政学的第一部专书，开拓了新领域，美国著名教育家杜威称他为“东亚一流学者”。

【作者简介】

　　陈友松(1899～1992年)，当代著名教育家、翻译家。湖北京山县人；早年留学菲律宾、美国，1935年在美获哲学博士学位；从事教育文化工作近七十年。 曾在厦门大学、西南联合大学，北京大学、北京师范大学等名校任教授、代系主任。1992年在北京逝世，享年93岁。先生学通中外，著译约370万字(翻译资料数百万字未计)。其博士论文《中国教育财政之改进》被誉为我国教育财政学的第一部专书，开拓了新领域，美国著名教育家杜威称他为“东亚一流学者”。
