ued to teach in a chool which had 1600 tudent aged from 11 to 18. the majorityof the ren aged from 11 to 16 remained in chool all day and if they had to leave they did ovia the chool office and main entrance. the chool wa ituated in the centre of the town and waalway in danger of having intruder. the tudent aged from 16 to 18 were allowed to leavewhenever they pleaed by an et far from the main office. thi et/entrance remained openthroughout the day and therefore intruder could get in.the proal i made wa that the open gate hould be reced by a high ecurity li gate. thegate would open for a fixed period after a tudent ued a wipe tic card to activate the openingmechanim. i got the idea from the type of card ued in hotel to rece room key. card couldeaily exclude intruder from the ytem by having the whole ytem linked to a puter. theytem would have alo kept a puteried record of the movement of each tudent in and out ofthe buil. if a tudent forgot hi/her card they would have to et via the main entrance and thechool office.adly my idea wa not adopted becaue of the cot and the fact that the tudent objected to aputeried record being kept of their entrie and departure from the chool.
