作者简介
常新萍 女，应用语言学博士(1996年，广东外语外贸大学)，中山大学外国语学院副教授，硕士生导师。研究兴趣：第二语言习得、外语教学、语篇分析、语用学。2000年―2001年到美国伊利诺伊大学厄本-珊贝分校语言学系访学。2008年―2009年到英国剑桥大学英语与应用语言学研究中心访学。发表学术论文20多篇，编写教材多套，参与多个国家、省级项目研究。先后为研究生和本科生开设“研究方法与统计学”、“语言测试”、“语义学”、“英语变体”等课程。从教以来，先后荣获广东省“南粤教坛新秀”(2000年)称号并获得其它教学科研奖励。

本书对于第二语言学习过程中的诸多因素，比如兴趣、个性特征、学习环境、交际策略等，相关研究不少。本书首先勾勒了一个理论框架，用以探讨影响第二语言学习过程中内外各种主要因素之间的关系以及不同互动方式产生的不同结果。随后，以此框架为理论指导，设计了一项具体的实证研究。该研究的发现对于第二语言的教学具有一定的指导意义。
