【作者简介】

Daniel Keyes was born in Brooklyn in 1927 and has worked as a merchant seaman, editor and university lecturer. He has published two other novels, but Flowers for Algernon remains his best known work.

 丹尼尔·凯斯，1929年生于美国纽约。在布鲁克林学院修完心理学之后，曾担任杂志编辑、时装摄影等工作，继而担任高中老师，其间，即开始从事小说创作。1959年首次发表中篇小说《献给阿尔吉侬的花束》初试啼声即荣获“雨果奖”。到了1966年又以长篇化之《献给阿尔吉侬的花束》获得“星云奖”。1980年发表《第五位莎莉》，1981年发表《24个比利》。作品虽然不多，但已纷纷被改编成舞台剧与电影。其中的《24个比利》于1994年拍摄成电影。而《献给阿尔吉侬的花束》则在1968年改编成著名电影《查理》，饰演查理一角的演员克里夫·罗伯森，更因该片而荣获奥斯卡金像奖最佳男主角之殊荣。该作品已销售500多万册。
