BramStoker(8November1847-20April1912)wasanIrishnovelistandshortstorywriter,bestknowntodayforhis1897GothicnovelDracula.Duringhislifetime,hewasbetterknownasthepersonalassistantofactorHenryIrvingandbusinessmanageroftheLyceumTheatreinLondon,whichIrvingowned.BramStokerdiedatNo26StGeorge'sSquarein1912.HewascrematedandhisashesplacedinadisplayurnatGoldersGreenCrematorium.Hisson,NoelStoker'sasheswereaddedtothaturn.

　　布莱姆·斯托克（BramStoker1847-1912）爱尔兰作家，出生于都柏林近郊的克朗塔夫。幼时体弱多病的布莱姆经常听母亲讲鬼故事和传奇故事，受此影响，他一直梦想成为一名作家，但却屈从于父亲的期望，成为了都柏林的一名公务员。从政期间，他坚持写作，创作有《爱尔兰即决法庭办事员的职责》《水晶杯》《命运的枷锁》等小说作品。他以自己对文学的执着获聘了都柏林《晚间邮报》的名誉戏剧评论家，之后成为了《爱尔兰回声》的编辑。
　　1878年，著名戏剧演员亨利·欧文为斯托克提供了一份在伦敦莱森戏院做演员经理人的工作。斯托克立即辞去了公务员的工作，开始了自己的新生活。尽管身负重任，他还是设法挤出了时间来写小说，于1897年出版了传世经典《吸血鬼伯爵德古拉》，受到社会各界一致好评。并因《吸血鬼伯爵德古拉》而享有“吸血鬼之父”的称号。
　　其后，斯托克创作了多部短篇小说、长篇小说及小品文，但他的名字始终与《德古拉》联系得最紧密。这位热爱写作的人从未放弃过他所钟情的事业，直至1912年逝世。
