PaulGaldonewasborninBudapest,Hungaryin1914andemigratedtotheUnitedStatesin1928.AfterfinishinghisstudiesattheArtStudentLeagueandtheNewYorkSchoolofIndustrialDesign,Mr.Galdoneworkedintheartdepartmentofamajorpublishinghouse.Therehewasintroducedtotheprocessofbookmaking,anactivitythatwassoontobecomehislifelongcareer.Beforehisdeathin1986,Mr.Galdoneillustratedalmostthreehundredbooks,manyofwhichhehimselfwroteorretold.Heisfondlyrememberedforhiscontemporarystyle,brightearthyhumor,andaction-filledillustrations,whichwillcontinuetodelightforgenerationstocome.
