In1972,hepassedtheprestigiousMasterSommelierDiploma.HewastheinstigatorinsettinguptheCourtofMasterSommeliers,establishedin1977,ofwhichheisafoundingmember.HewasChiefExaminerfrom1990andChiefExecutivesince1998.HeiscurrentlyChiefExecutiveoftheCourtofMasterSommeliersEurope.SometimeChiefExaminerfortheC&GLIandtheHCIMAFoodandBeverageprograms,hewasaUKGovernmentInspectorforCollegesandUniversitiesuntilhisretirementfromHeadoftheHospitalityManagementDegreeprograms,UniversityofPlymouth,UK.
