Tiziano Terzani, an Italian journalist and writer, was born in Florence in 1938. When he was young, he went to China to study Chinese studies at Columbia University in New York. Between 1972 and 1997, he was appointed as a special correspondent for the German Der Spiegel in Asia. He is based in Southeast Asia, China and Japan. He also wrote articles for the Italian Evening Post, Newsweek and the Republican. Ten kinds of things have always adhered to the anti-war and anti-power positions. Because of his achievements in reporting, he won the Luigi Barzini Award, the highest honor in the Italian press in 1997. In 2004, he died in a home near the valley in Florence.
