Barbara Ireland, a writer and publisher living in upstate New York, is a former Associate Editor of the ""Travel"" pages and Associate Editor for the New York Times editorials. A member of the Times team, she has commissioned and edited a number of travel columns, and has written some of them herself. A graduate of Cornell University, she attended John S. Knight School of Journalism at Stanford University."
