本书共5章，主要内容包括现代炼钢技术发展历程、钢铁冶金的基础理论、铁水预处理工艺、氧气转炉炼钢工艺和电炉炼钢技术。本书以讲授包括铁水预处理在内的炼钢工艺为主，同时介绍了钢铁冶金，特别是炼钢环节涉及的基础理论，以满足不同层次学的需要。本书可作为高等院校冶金工程等专业的专业英语教材（配有课件），所介绍内容能够满足本科生和的要求，同时也可供从事相关专业的工程技术人员和管理人员参。

作者简介：

孙立根，1983年生，博士，副教授，华北理工大学，冶金工程系副主任，硕士生导师。主要从事现代炼钢、连铸工艺技术、理论及控制研究，以及炼钢连铸工艺及设计的工作。先后主持河北省自然、河北省科技支撑计划、唐山市科技攻关计划等纵向课题4项，并作为重要研究人参加了“大线能量焊接用船体钢开发”、“天钢联合特钢高效率低成本洁净钢生产台的建立和优化”、“国丰二钢不同钢种不同断面保护渣与二冷配水系统评测与优化”等10余项纵横向课题的研究。在靠前外学术期刊和学术会议上发表30余篇，其中ci、ei收录10余篇。
