A scarce and well regarded work on Chinese Porcelain covering the Ming-Qing dynasties (1368-1912). Talbot was a Eurasian entrepreneur, who established the first medicine factory in Shanghai. He built up an enviable collection of Chinese porcelain, upon which this book is based and went on to develop a method of porcelain manufacture to reproduce the finest Qing-style enamel wares. He also founded a photographic business operated by his daughter Mae Linda Talbot, who became one of the earliest documented female photographers in China
