Followinganun-dergraduatedegreeinForestrySciencesandanMScinSilviculturefromNanjingForestryUniversity(NJFU).Nanjing,P.R.China,FuliangCao(EnglishnameSam)receivedhisPHDinForestEcol-ogyattheUniversityof'BritishColumbia,Canada.focusingonEcoiogicalBasisforGinkgoAgrof'orestry.Since1982hehasbeenworkingasoneofthef'acultymemberatNJFU,wherehepresentedcoursesonsilviculture,no-woodproducts.bambooforests,methodologyforno-woodproductsresearch.
Forthepasttwentyyears.Dr.Caohasunder-takenmanykeyresearchprojectsmainlyrelatedtotheecophysiology,forestecologyundsilviculcureofpoplar,bambooandginkgo.HehaspublishedseveralbookstitledasChineseGinkgo,GinkgoGrowthDy-namicsofSouthernPoplarClones,SilvicultureandForestEcology.Since1992,hisresearchinterestshavebeenfocusedonginkgotreespeciescoveringmanyaspectsfromgeneticstophysiology,forestecology,silvicultureandutilizationsofginkgo.Theforty-threegraduatestudentshehassupervisedoverthepasttenyearshavestudiedallaspect.sofSilvicultureandsomeareasofForestEcologycoveringecophysiology,pro-ductionecology,agroforestry.treespeciesselection,densitycontrolandmodelling.
