Original 19th Century Watercolour. Laid on paper. With body colour. Unsigned. Small bend to paper in lower-left corner.Sold
From an album of excellent mid-19th century watercolours and graphite drawings. Although we have been unable to identify this clearly very competent artist, all artworks are by the same hand. Most of the artworks are dated either 1844 or 1845 and are inscribed. Executed in a typically Victorian realist style, this artist avidly renders rural scenery from around England and Wales. Most of the locations are around the West Country and the artist is likely to have been based in Bristol or in its vicinity.
