The collection comprises 46 steel engravings, copper engravings and lithographs as well as a signed watercolor by L. Hofer from 1910. The subjects range from portraits to genre scene to religious representations amongst others. Some of the prints are reproductions of paintings by famous artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Claude Lorain, Titian or van Dyck. Many of the steel engravings were published by Albert Henry Payne, an English engraver, painter and illustrator who came to Germany as a young boy and founded the publishing company Englische Kunstanstalt in 1845. A great anthology for collectors and novices!

The prints are in fair condition according to their age. The paper is a little browned and partially foxed, there are damp stains here and there and some sheets show marginal blemishes. The dimensions rage from 27.4 x 20.9 cm to 38 x 32.5 cm. The watercolour shows visible framing marks, the colours are well preserved. It is signed and dated lower right ‘L. Hofer / 26/12 1910‘. On the back it is annotated by the artist and measures 17 x 2 5 cm.
