“中外摄影对着拍”是2018年中国摄影家协会为庆祝中国改革开放40年而精心策划的主题摄影活动。活动遴选了5位外国摄影家（马克吕布、伊芙阿诺德、阿德里亚诺马达罗、阎雷、布鲁诺巴贝）的40幅拍摄于中国改革开放之初前后的照片，并以此为蓝本邀约中国摄影师对照拍摄中国同地点、同场景或者同行业甚至同一群人物的当下影像，旨在以生动的影像语言、鲜明的对照方式展现中国改革开放40年来所取得的翻天覆地的变化，彰显摄影的独特魅力。本书即为活动成果之一。该书在既有活动及展览成果基础上，特约专家围绕40对作品从图片反映的行业、场景等背景信息切入，展开图文并茂的深入解读，同时特别将业内过往对5位外国摄影家的访谈或文字并相关学术探讨穿插其间，将“对着拍”的时代、学术、专业和客观进行到底。而英文版的此书则将进一步扩大“对着拍”活动和品牌尤其是改革开放成的世界影响力。
